Wellness Wednesday — The Seasons, They Go Round and Round

Welcome back, fall, faculty, and friends! We begin again.

Meteorological summer is over, and though we can expect the usual splashes of late September hot weather, there’s no denying the shorter days tugging us inward. I hope you had some time this summer to laze a little, connect with yourself, friends or loved ones, get some vitamin D and otherwise mark the season.

Like students, most of us arrive at this new beginning with a mix of emotions: anticipation, excitement, hope, and some fear and anxiety about what it brings and whether we are up to the challenge. This is our New Year. We can take time to reflect on what we want to do differently, what we want to learn and how we want to invest ourselves in the 2024-25 school year.

And, like most resolution makers, we’ll get distracted or discouraged or fall off a lot. That’s OK. Every day — every breath — is a chance to begin again. Let’s meet ourselves, like the new term, with curiosity, enthusiasm and compassion. And remember that our work is an investment in people, community, hope and the future.

“Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it”. That’s a quote from “Anne of Green Gables,” suggested by Amanda Vanderzee.

Looking forward to sharing the new school year with you!
