LBCC’s basketball teams each played two games last week, combining for a record of 1-3 in games against Lane and Chemeketa.
On January 24, the Roadrunner women took on 9-1 Lane at home, falling 74-61. The Titans shot 48.5% compared to LB’s 32.4%. For the game, sophomore Muriel Jones-Hoisington led the Beaks with 19 points while freshman Natalia McBride added a team-best nine rebounds.
Two hours later, the LB men took the court to take on the 8-9 Lane men’s squad. The Roadrunners’ late comeback resulted in a thrilling 86-85 win. For the game, sophomore T.J. Zimmermann led the team with 15 rebounds and 24 points.
At halftime, the LBCC volleyball team revealed their 2023 NWAC Championship banner in front of the home crowd.
On the 27th, the Beaks’ basketball teams took on Chemeketa on the road. The women played first, falling 73-65 to the 7-8 Storm. Natalia McBride led her team with 10 rebounds and 24 points on the night.
With the two losses this week, the Roadrunner women drop to 9-5 on the season and 1-3 in NWAC South play.
Afterwards, the LBCC men fell to Chemeketa’s 8-8 men’s team 79-63. Once again, Zimmermann led the Beaks with 22 points on the game, while freshman Cade Smith had a team-best seven rebounds off the bench.
With the loss, the Roadrunner men remain at .500 on the season and in conference play, sitting at 8-8 and 2-2, respectively.
This week, the LBCC men and women will each take the court next on January 29 as they take on Mt. Hood on the road.
