Roadruner Rundown: Oct. 29

Welcome to another edition of the Roadrunner Rundown, your weekly guide to what’s happening around LBCC! Whether you’re looking for exciting campus events, important updates, or new opportunities to get involved, we’ve got you covered.

I hope all staff will join us for a special Courtyard Dedication Event this Thursday, Oct. 31, at noon on the Albany campus! Thanks to the 2022 bond, this transformed space now offers expanded seating, improved landscaping, and a dedicated stage for future events, making it a functional and welcoming area for our campus community.

The dedication program will include a short ceremony followed by a hosted lunch. Plus, we’ll announce the winner of this year’s Halloween decoration contest! I hope you can join us in celebrating this beautiful new addition to LBCC’s campus and sharing in the Halloween festivities.

Also happening this week: On Wednesday, LBCC will host a press conference with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to discuss new grant funding that will expand CDL training opportunities for veterans and eligible family members, enhance technological capabilities, and support state CDL programs. Speakers will include FMCSA Chief Counsel Melody Drummond Hansen, LBCC President Dr. Lisa Avery, Albany Mayor Alex Johnson II, and representatives from partner colleges.
