The Linn and Benton Counties Juneteenth Celebration is back for 2024. Linn-Benton Community College will host the annual event on the school’s Albany campus from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19.
Sponsored by local organizations and free for all, the celebration will include food, music, a Black-owned business expo, and activities for the whole family per the event flier.
“For those of you who may not know, Junteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865. For over 150 years, communities have celebrated this festive occasion over good food, games, entertainment, and family friendly activities,” said Jason Dorsette, the Executive Director of LB’s Office of Institutional Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in a schoolwide announcement. “If you do not have plans already, please feel free to come and go as your schedule allows. I hope to see you, your family, and friends at our community Juneteenth celebration.”
