ALBANY, Ore. – Linn-Benton Community College will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Agricultural Education Center on Thursday, May 22 at 4 p.m., with a reception following the ceremony. The event marks the beginning of construction on a facility that will serve as the cornerstone of agricultural education in the region.
Located on 53 acres of land south of the main campus, the new Agricultural Center will address critical needs in LBCC’s agricultural programs, which have outgrown the original equine facility. Currently, students must travel up to 40 minutes off-campus to complete hands-on laboratory requirements at local farms. The new center will provide crucial on-site learning spaces, eliminate travel barriers, and enhance educational opportunities for all agricultural students.
The project received strong community support, with the state providing $8 million in appropriation funds and voters of Linn and Benton counties passing a bond in 2022 to match this funding. The LBCC Foundation is also raising additional funds to help close the funding gap for the center.
Community members, agricultural industry partners, alumni, and prospective students are invited to attend this milestone event.
