LBCC Students Get ‘Amazing Deals’ at Annual $1 Clothing Sale

Students and others pored over racks of shirts, slacks, dresses and other items in search of everyday and business attire last week during the annual $1 Clothing Sale on LBCC’s Albany campus.

Dozens of students took advantage of the $1 price on all clothes, shoes and other accessories, such as purses. The event, held this year on Tuesday, April 22, has been going on annually for the last 15 years, according to organizers.

“It beats going to Goodwill,” said one of the many students looking through the racks of clothes that were set up outside the library.

Another student participating for the third year, said, “It benefits the students and there are some amazing deals.’’

This year the event raised $1,125. The money from the sale benefits students in the form of scholarships and other services.

Donations and organizing for the event come from American Association for Women in Community Colleges Clothing Connection, and individual donors such as faculty, and other students.

The Clothing Connection at LBCC is located on the Albany campus in Forum Room 109. It provides free, gently used clothing to LBCC students. The Clothing Connection aims to help students access professional and everyday attire, ensuring they have suitable clothing for classes, work, and other needs.

The Clothing Connection is typically open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students can simply walk in during operating hours.

The Clothing Connection also accepts donations of clean, gently used clothing. Donations can be dropped off at a designated location, often near the Clothing Connection itself or another student services area.
