LBCC Basketball – Beaks Standout T.J. Zimmermann to Join Oregon State Football

It’s the time of year for Linn-Benton Athletics’ top sophomores to start moving to four-year schools to continue their collegiate careers. For LB basketball’s T.J. Zimmermann, it’ll involve a move to one of the state’s top Division I programs. And switching sports.

Zimmermann will be joining Oregon State’s football program as a tight end, the Roadrunners standout posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Wednesday morning.

Before joining Linn-Benton basketball in 2022, Zimmermann was a football tight end for West Albany High School. He later played the position collegiately at the City College of San Francisco for a year before getting his first DI break, accepting a scholarship for the University of New Mexico. However, plans changed, and Zimmermann went on to become a two-year starter for Linn-Benton basketball.

The 6’5, 250-pound forward became the second all-time leading scorer in school history his sophomore year, averaging 21.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Zimmermann earned all-NWAC South honors in both years he played, adding an All-American nod in 2024.

Zimmermann led the Beaks to a 15-14 record and a playoff berth in 2024.
