Bellevue ends LBCC’s season at NWAC volleyball tourney

PASCO, Washington — The Linn-Benton volleyball team got off to a strong start but were unable to maintain the momentum as they fell on Friday, Nov. 21, to the Bellevue College Bulldogs. 

The team finished their season with yet another appearance at the final site of the NWAC Volleyball Championships, hosted this year on the campus of Columbia Basin College in Pasco. Bellevue ultimately advanced to the championship match, where it fell to this year’s NWAC Volleyball Champion Treasure Valley Community College, which is in Ontario, Oregon.

The Roadrunners (24-7, 13-3 NWAC South) won the first set 25-21, however Bellevue (31-3, 10-2 NWAC North) narrowly won the second set 25-22 to even the match at one set apiece. 

The teams battled into the third set with Bellevue claiming a 25-23 win before pulling away late in the fourth set to claim the 3-1 victory. 

Lana Gillas had a match-high 16 kills, while Mia Monaghan had 20 digs for the Roadrunners. Klaire Bitter had 26 assists as well. Linn-Benton concluded their season having won 12 of their last 14 matches.
