Linn-Benton volleyball’s hot streak continued from the regular season into the playoffs as the Beaks defeated South Puget Sound in the first round of the NWAC championship tournament on Saturday.

As the top seed in the NWAC South, the Roadrunners were granted hosting privileges for the regional round of the playoffs. They put on a show for the home crowd, winning all three sets with final scores of 25-13, 25-15, and 25-17.

Freshman Maddy Hellem was the star of the show, leading the Beaks with 18.5 points and 17 kills. Sophomore Grace Boeder contributed 11.5 points while freshman Kinsey Brelage led the team with 17 digs.

Linn-Benton won’t have much time to celebrate their dominant win as their next game is less than 24 hours away. The Roadrunners will face Yakima Valley in Albany at 10 a.m. on November 12 in the next round of the playoffs. A win will result in the Beaks heading to the Elite Eight next weekend as the top seed from the south bracket. A loss would result in Linn-Benton playing an 11:30 a.m. match against Edmonds to determine the south bracket’s second slot in the Elite Eight. Either way, November 12 is shaping up to be an exciting Sunday of college volleyball.
