Lower Columbia takes 3 of 4 from Roadrunners in NWAC Baseball

The Linn-Benton baseball team dropped three of their four games against Lower Columbia College on Saturday and Sunday, March 25-26.
The Roadrunners moved to 12-8 on the season. The Red Devils moved to 14-10 on the year.
The four-game series featured two games at Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington on Saturday, and two games at Linn-Benton in Albany on Sunday.
On Saturday, the Roadrunners dropped game one to the Red Devils 2-0. Red Devil Michael Schwartz picked up the win going 7 1/3 innings, allowing no runs on 4 hits, and striking out 4. Roadrunner Chase Reynolds picked up the loss, going 5 innings and allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 4.
In game two on Saturday, the Roadrunners bounced back with a 3-1 win. Roadrunner Titus Dumitru knocked in 2 runs. Dylan Rush picked up the win, going 6 2/3 innings, allowing only 1 run on 5 hits. Russell Holly picked up the save, coming into the game in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded, two outs, and the tying run on second. Holly threw three pitches for three strikes to close the game.
On Sunday, the Red Devils defeated the Roadrunners 5-3 in game one. The Roadrunners held a 3-0 lead until the fifth inning, when the Red Devils loaded the bases and brought 2 runs across the plate. Lower Columbia took the lead for good in the top of the eighth with a pair of RBI singles to make it a 4-3 game. An insurance run in the ninth closed out the game.
In game two, the Red Devils defeated the Roadrunners 5-2. Holly went 4 innings in relief for the Roadrunners, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits.
Next up, the Roadrunners stay home for an NWAC South Region matchup against the Lane Titans on Thursday, March 30. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
