Roadrunners Split Home Baseball Opener vs. Lane

ALBANY – The Linn-Benton Roadrunners split their twin bill against Lane Community College on Sunday, March 5. 

The Roadrunners moved to 5-1 on the year, and 1-1 in the NWAC South Region. The Titans moved to 2-4 on the year, and 1-1 in the NWAC South Region. 

In game one the Roadrunners exploded offensively, outscoring the Titans 11-1 and ending the game early in the eighth inning. Chase Reynolds picked up the win going 6 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits, and 2 walks, while striking out 9 batters. 

Roadrunner Titus Dumitru hit a two-RBI single into left field in the bottom of the eighth inning to invoke the 10-run rule limit. 

In game two the Titans pitching held the Roadrunners scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when Roadrunners Trey Nelson hit a single out to left field scoring Cole Cramer and giving the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead. The following inning the Titans found themselves down to their final strike in the seventh inning with the bases loaded. Titan Nate May knocked a sharply hit ball towards Roadrunners shortstop Cramer.  May beat Cramer’s throw, allowing the tying run to score. The Roadrunners, unable to score in the bottom half of the inning, sent the game to extras. The Titans scored in the top of the eighth to beat the Roadrunners 2-1. 

Next up the Roadrunners will travel to take on Mt. Hood Community College on Thursday, March 9. First Pitch is set for 1 p.m.
