Lady Roadrunners Continue Winning Ways in League Opener

The Linn-Benton Women’s Basketball team defeated Mt. Hood Community College 50-42 on Wednesday, Jan. 4. 

The Roadrunners improved to 11-1 on the year, and 1-0 in the NWAC South Region. The Saints fell to 5-6 on the year, and 0-1 in league play. 

Roadrunners’ Brooklynn Hankwitz and Muriel Jones-Hoisington led all scorers with 14 points. Hankwitz finished with a double-double, tallying 16 rebounds in addition to her 14 points. Jones-Hoisington made 4 of 7 shots from the 3-point line. 

“What worked well for me was crashing the glass and going for second-chance opportunities,” Hankwitz said. 

Next up the Roadrunners stay home to take on Clark College on Saturday, Jan. 7. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
