The Magic Barrel: A Night of Reading to Fight Hunger

After a two-year hiatus due to Covid, the Mid-Willamette Valley’s literary event, The Magic Barrel, will be making a full return on Friday, November 4 from 6 – 8p.m. Hosted by The Whiteside Theater in Corvallis, The Magic Barrel is an annual event put on by local writers and readers with the goal of raising funds for the Linn-Benton Food Share.
The evening will be bookended with live music, while brief readings from Oregon writers and readers in the poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction genres will be the main event. This year’s line-up is mightier than the sword, and not to be missed; Tracy Daugherty, Kate Hope Day, Steven Moore, and LB’s very own Karelia Stetz-Waters are just a few names on the heavy-hitting roster for the evening. Autographed books of select authors from the evening will be available for purchase at the event, courtesy of Grass Roots Bookstore and Music.
A night of live music and local writers and readers sharing their work with the shared goal of fighting hunger, The Magic Barrel is sure to a warm and community-engaging event, and a beautiful way to kick off this giving season.
Event takes place Friday, November 4, 6 – 8pm at The Whiteside Theater, 361 SW Madison Ave, Corvallis.
