Roadrunners Advance in NWAC Baseball Playoffs; Take on Lower Columbia on Sunday

LONGVIEW, Washington – The Linn-Benton Baseball team defeated Edmonds Community College 6-1 in their second-round playoff game on Friday, May 27.
Roadrunners pitcher Kian Hogan was the story of the game. Hogan was phenomenal on the mound, and had a no-hitter through 6 innings, before surrendering a hit in the seventh inning. Overall, Hogan went 7 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits, while striking out 7.
“It means the world to all of us, seeing a guy go under the spotlight and just doing a great job. This isn’t a team it’s a family,” Roadrunner Cayden Delozier said.
Roadrunner Kaden Segel finished off the last two innings on the mound. Segel went 2 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 1.
Roadrunner Jake Hoskins led the way offensively, going 2-4 with 2 RBI. Seven of the 10 Roadrunners batters had at least 1 hit in the game.
“It’s so much fun, guys are having a blast, they’re playing together, playing like a family. It’s so much fun to watch every single guy,” Roadrunners Head Coach Andy Peterson said.
Tritons Kota Sato took the loss on the mound. Sato went 5 ⅔ innings, allowing 5 runs (1 unearned), on 6 hits, walking 3 while striking out 2.
Due to weather circumstances, the NWAC postponed all games on Saturday, May 28. Linn-Benton is slated to play Lower Columbia Community College at 4:35 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, at David Story Field, 1700-1740 19th Ave. in Longview.
