OSU Men’s Basketball Game vs Sacramento State Postponed Third Time

The Oregon State Men’s Basketball game against Sacramento State scheduled for Monday, Jan. 3 was postponed less than an hour before the 3 pm tip-off was supposed to happen.
The Oregon State Ticket Office was telling ticket holders that:
“Both teams took the court for warmups, but one team did not have enough players”
A statement from Shawn Schoeffler, the Assistant Director of Communications at Oregon State read:
“The Oregon State men’s basketball game against Sacramento State has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the Beavers’ program”
This game was originally scheduled for Saturday, December 11, but COVID protocols within Oregon State postponed the game to Tuesday, December 28. That game was then postponed due to inclement weather and Sacramento States flights being canceled.
The NCAA requires a minimum of seven players to be eligible to play, per team, for a game to be contested. In the Beavers last game, agaisnt Utah, which they won 88-76, they had only 9 players available.
The next game on the schedule for Oregon State is the “Game With No Name” against the University of Oregon on January 6 at 7:30 in Corvallis. U of O’s game against Colorado, also scheduled for Monday, January 3 against Colorado was also postponed due to COVID protocols within the Ducks program.
