Men’s Basketball Falls Short Against The Storm 79-70

LBCC took a loss to the Chemeketa Storm (12-5, 6-1) over the weekend, 79-70. This loss marks the second in a row for the Roadrunners, after their loss to Lane. The Roadrunners now sit at 10-8 overall and 4-3 in conference. Their bout with Chemeketa marks their third match in a row against a strong south member. LBCC currently sits in fourth in the southern region standings

The Roadrunners played competitive the whole game, however the Storm were able to hit 59% from the field. On top of this, the Storm were on fire from the free throw line, shooting 79% on the night. Nico Wolff made an impact on offense, scoring 19 points and nabbing four rebounds as well.

Everett Brandt made contributions on offense, scoring 13 points as well as garnering a steal and a block. One huge aspect of LBCC’s game plan and success is the consistent bench play and everyone making an impact, but the bench had a hard time getting it going on the night, scoring 16 total points.

Next up for the Roadrunners are the SW Oregon Raccoons (6-13 Overall, 1-6 Conference) who stand at last in the southern conference. The Raccoons average 87 points per game which ranks 24th overall in the NWAC.

After their bout with SW Oregon, the team will look forward to more competition in the south, facing the likes of Umpqua and Clackamas again next month. The team is taking things step by step and working towards getting their game plan clicking to keep things competitive for the remainder of the season.
