You might have seen me around campus. I’m the 6’7, big black guy, with the huge smile and hello. I’m on some of the literature here as well as a flag in the parking lot. On LB Live I’m Dac Achieves but my real name is Raven Womack Sr.
I’m a student, Administrative Assistant for the Diversity Achievement Center, as well as an Assistant to the Learning Center and Student Affairs departments. I have been a part of this campus for three-plus years now and I have watched it slowly grow.
My first impressions of this campus were very cold. I took random classes my first couple of terms (destination graduation was not available yet) with no one really to talk to. I didn’t see much diversity on campus but that didn’t deter me from pursuing my AAOT.
One of the experiences that changed me here is my work for the Diversity Achievement Center and the department of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. This department has helped in my professional development, given the campus a positive black individual, and assisted me in some of my personal goals. I have grown in this department as a student and as an employee of the college. Being a part of the DAC has given me the opportunity to show my leadership skills and help students in their college walk. My future career goals are to finish my degree here, transfer to Oregon State University to achieve my Ethnic Studies B.A., and Community College Leadership Master Degree. I enjoy assisting students follow their dreams and passions.
Linn-Benton Community College has given me the opportunity to touch the lives of countless people who have walked through my department and classes.
