Spring Fuel: Essential locations for finding good and affordable campus food

Spring is here, which means spring classes are here as well. Whether you’re a brand new student on LB’s soil or returning for another quarter, we all need to stop for some grub between classes. Food is vital, and good food is going to be the fuel that will power your brain through classes and studying. Linn Benton’s Albany campus has an abundance of choices when it comes to good — and affordable — food, available before, in-between, or after class.

The Courtyard Cafe, located in Takena Hall right in front of the financial aid office, is a perfect one-stop shop on your way to and from core classes. Open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday’s, breakfast is served daily until 11 a.m., and coffee and espresso all day.

If you’d like full plates or even specialty pizza, head over to the Commons Cafeteria, located in CC-209. This cafeteria is ran by the employee art’s program and is open 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with lunch served 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Whenever you’re feeling fancy, head over to the Santiam Restaurant, located in the upstairs portion of the Calapooia Center, CC-201. Open Monday-Thursday, Santiam serves pastries and coffee 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and has lunch seating 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

If you’re looking for a quick grab-and-go affordable lunch, head over to the campus bookstore, located downstairs in the Calapooia Center, for $5 lunch specials (starting April 10) which include: a cold sandwich, chips, and a 12 oz drink. SNAP is also accepted here for all cold food items and beverages.

For any college student, coffee is essential, especially in between classes. For all of your coffee needs, stop by the Hot Shot Cafe Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to stay on your toes for your next class.
