Series of Tubes: Operation Blackout Coverage
Today is the big day: Operation Blackout (AKA: the most productive work day in modern history). Congressional hearings over the Protect-IP Act begin today. At the time of this writing, over 7,000 websites have gone dark to protest the Stop Online Piracy and PROTECT-IP Acts. Among them are Reddit, the Cheezburger Network (all 50+ sites), Wikipedia, and WordPress, and Google has joined in with a blackout banner and links to an online petition on their front page. The PROTECT IP and Stop Internet Piracy Acts are the hot new ideas fresh out of Congress guaranteed to bring Internet Piracy to a screeching halt. While breaking the Internet. And instituting an “Internet death penalty.” Continue reading
Movie Review: Red State
Depending on who you ask, Red State is either the best film Kevin Smith ever made, or the worst trash ever committed to celluloid. There doesn’t seem to be any middle ground for this film. For the record, I’m firmly in the “best film Kevin Smith ever made” camp. Continue reading
Series of Tubes: Website Round-Up
I stumbled over a healthy amount of interesting stories about the Internet, but none of them were really enough to inspire a whole article. Instead, let’s take a quick look at some of the more interesting and useful bits of information floating around on the web today. Continue reading
