With a split in last week’s two games the Roadrunners have the season hinging on this week’s last two games of the year, especially Wednesday’s game against SW Oregon.

At 7-5 the Roadrunners hold a one game lead over SW Oregon for the fourth and final spot in the NWAAC Championship Tournament coming up in Kennewick, WA. The first time these two met in January the Roadrunners ran away with an 84-65 home victory, but this game has the season for both teams ridding on it.

A loss would but their backs against the wall and would have to beat a first place Mt. Hood team on Saturday to even have a chance. A team that beat LB 86-67 back in January up at Mt. Hood.

Last week started off good with a 79-63 victory at home over Umpqua. Both Kelly Christensen and Colton Evans had double-doubles for the Roadrunners, with Christensen scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Evans put in 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The fun ended their, the team traveled to Salem last Saturday with a chance to all but clinch the fourth spot against a team they had already beaten earlier in the season. However, they ran into a red hot Chemeketa team that has climbed the standings to tie Mt. Hood for first place at 10-2, and were beaten soundly 81-63.

This week will make or break the season for the Roadrunners who had high hopes and expectations coming into the season. A win however, and a trip to Kennewick would put the team where they wanted to be and who knows what could happen once their in.

This Week:

02/22 Away vs. SW Oregon at 7:30 p.m.

02/25 Home vs. Mt. Hood at 6:00 p.m.

  1. I think that Linn-Benton actually has somewhat of a chance of knocking off Mt. Hood. Hood is a streaky team that runs off of momentum, so if LB can catch them off guard, they’re already stressed over possibly losing 1st place in the south.
