Stowell comes to LBCC from Tacoma Community College, where he has served as the director of marketing, communication and outreach since 2007. Previous to TCC, Stowell served as director of college relations at Pierce College from 1998 to 2007, and as assistant director from 1994 to 1998.

In addition, Stowell was employed as a regional physician communication manager with Franciscan Health System, and as a publications and media relations manager for St. Joseph Medical Center, both in Washington
state. Stowell also worked for several years as an editor and reporter for the Woodburn Independent newspaper and as a reporter for the Lebanon Express.

Stowell was raised in Philomath and attended LBCC where he studied journalism. He went on to Portland State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in English. Stowell will start in his new position at the college on Jan. 12.

Dale Stowell succeeds Marlene Propst, who has served at executive director since 2003. Propst recently retired after serving 35 years at the college.
