“Gluten intolerance/sensitivity—or true Celiac disease—is becoming more common. Yet finding gluten-free food that is not only nutritious, but also tastes good, can be a difficult task.” — Carver’s Bakeshop, About Us.

Just ask Emily Carver, a Corvallis elementary school teacher, who has been gluten intolerant for many years. Upon her diagnosis, she was disappointed to find out that not many companies provide gluten-free food products or recipes that taste good.

Her husband Travis, in love with the idea of entrepreneurship, has come up with several business ideas over the years. He finally decided it was high time his wife “enjoyed dessert again.”

This was the inspiration for Carver’s Bakeshop. Travis studied Robert Kiyosaki and Dave Ramsey. Kiyosaki and Ramsey are two investors and authors who encourage anyone to save money and become wealthy. Their life stories aided Travis in accumulating the funds to start his business.
