ONPA awards 2011 Collegiate Newspaper Contest honors
Albany, Ore. – The Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association (ONPA) presented its 2011 Collegiate Newspaper Contest awards to member Oregon college and university newspapers during the Oregon Newspapers Foundation’s annual Collegiate Day conference, held at Linn- Benton Community College in Albany, Oregon on Friday, May 6.

All but eight of ONPA’s 25 Collegiate Member newspapers competed in this year’s contest. Together, these 17 newspapers submitted a total of 603 entries in 21 categories that cover the spectrum of newspaper arts. Those entries were judged in March and April by a group of individuals in the editorial and advertising departments at ONPA member newspapers.

The judges awarded a total of 174 awards, including 62 first-place, 62 second-place, and 50 honorable mention awards. A complete list of these awards, including images of the winning entries, can be found on the ONPA web site at www.orenews.com. In addition to the awards presentation, conference attendees chose to attend two of the five educational sessions offered during the conference.
